Errata
Errata

Human innovation often carries consequences we only recognize once they are impossible to undo. The title of this exhibition, “Errata,” borrows a term from the printing world: the list of errors inserted into a book after it has run through the presses. In other words, mistakes discovered too late to be remedied.
In this major solo exhibition, Mat Collishaw applies this concept to modern technological progress. Because artificial intelligence and digital networks operate on generative, self-replicating systems, their evolution frequently drifts far beyond original human instructions. Collishaw explores the invisible power structures of AI and social media, questioning where these adverse systems might ultimately lead us.
Rather than presenting a straightforward interpretation, Collishaw probes the darker, more erratic angles of human desire and perception. His work operates on a compelling psychological tension: the viewer is initially drawn in by a seductive beauty, only to discover a disturbing layer of foreboding and decay beneath the surface. By pairing alluring imagery with themes of deterioration, he highlights how deeply today’s digital tools can amplify human anxiety, hostility, and emotional manipulation.
“Errata” intentionally avoids a predictable, anti-technology message. Instead, it leaves us with a far more haunting thought: that our reliance on AI and genetic engineering might be sparking entirely new evolutionary systems forces of life and intelligence that will adapt, mutate, and thrive long after human control has slipped away.
